The Week In Review: April 7th - April 13th

orangereview.jpg
Is it really Monday - AGAIN!?

Seems another week has come and gone but not without some fun at the PK lair. In case you missed any of it, here's a chance to catch up.

  • We learned that people at NBC's Deal or No Deal, have their fingers on the pulse of one Marvel fan's dream.
  • Jonostarsmore talked comics and LGBT with Prism Comics founding president and creator of the erotic gay thriller Mark of Aeacus, Charles "Zan" Christensen. They had so much too talk about - there was a second part.
  • Goblin gave some insight into Fantastic Four (vol. 2) in The DVD Shop.

What will this week hold? That's anyone's guess.

Week In Review: Late Due To Printing Error Edition

review.jpg

Sorry for the delay in this week's wrap up, but a Russian cosmonaut from the future prevented me from doing so. True story.

Anyway let's take a look at last week's movers and shakers!

Highlights include:

  • The return of The Higher Bookshelf as kid_ampersand highlighted Comic Book Comics!.
  • Our pick for LGBT Comic of the Week, So Super Duper! Brian's comic was also recently featured in the popular video review program, The Stack.
  • Real printing errors caused Comic Foundry magazine to be delayed...twice...the first issue will be on sale on April 2!
  • The surreal Achewood was chosen as this week's Webcomic Spotlight.
  • Our local comic book store spotlight went to none other than my very own LCS, Lee's Comics in Mountain View, California. Read the comments for a strange reunion...
  • Iron Man (or at least Tony Stark) was confirmed to be appearing in The Incredible Hulk, sparking rumors of an Avengers movie.
  • Our second contest went up and running! Win exclusive Serenity figures! Hurry, the contest ends today!
  • The Rocketeer was our featured DVD in Goblin's DVD Shop.
  • Scott Pilgrim and Arrested Development combined...sorta not really...
  • Our usual Thursday Review Sessions hit the stands with issue #3! Hurry and grab your copy before it sells out!
  • Sadly, there will probably not be a Fantastic Four 3 and there is no Zod.
  • Alan Moore was featured on BBC in a documentary.
  • And finally...Ultimate Jarvis became our LGBT Character of the Week!

That's all folks! Tune in next week for another wrap up of PK excellence!

PK: A Week In Review

GayCom37.jpg

Another week of finely tuned comic news brought to you by the lovely staff here at Pink Kryptonite. Here are some of the headlines that you may have missed (not on purpose, of course).

  • Marvel's Editor-in-Chief announced that his Cup of Joe feature was moving to ...myspace?!

  • We chose Captain Excelsior as our Webcomic Spotlight...After Elton picked up on the news and gave us a shout out.

  • Spike continued the popular trend of porting Whedon creations to the comic book medium.

  • Goblin premiered his new weekly feature, the DVD Shop.

  • The new Incredible Hulk trailer resulted in a mixed bag of responses.

  • Oracechele continued to highlight comic shops across North America. This week's stop? Powerhouse Comics in Appleton, Wisconsin.

  • DC lowered the prices on its comic books in Canada...Canadians continue to bathe in gold as the dollar loses its value stateside.

  • Our second round of weekly reviews went up: hopefully you folks are reading!

  • kid_ampersand debuted the Pulse: a lifeline to check the status of our favorite books.

  • PK reader Michael became the first PK contest winner!

  • Manhunter will return after a long hiatus.

  • Hooded Justice from Watchmen became our LGBT Character of the Week.

  • We offered a slew of news coming from Wizard World: Los Angeles.

That's about it! Stay tuned for another awesome week of news, reviews, and contests!

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
