Wondercon 2011: Green Lantern
Watch this now as I have no idea how official it is, or how long it will be up. It's actually a bit more smoothly edited and longer than the footage we saw last night at the Green Lantern movie panel.
I am EXCITED.

Am I the only one who thought that when I saw the futuristic T-shaped mask he's wearing here, as he sells some kind of high quality audio laptop? The rest of the outfit works pretty well too!
Certainly, you've already heard about it from the eloquent Wootini, but it's worth pointing out Comic Jumper again. The Xbox Arcade title has you traversing various comic book styles (Twisted Pixel seems to have mistaken "Silver Age" and "Manga" as genres, but we'll forgive them) to save the protagonist's own title. There's no set release date yet, so you'll just have to prep yourself for the downloadable title through its trailer for now.
In case you missed it, I thought that Tim Gunn's recent critique really deserved some space on Pink Kryptonite.

This weekend, with its major movie release that needn't go named, is going to place you on one side or another of the sparkly vampire schism. Whether you're on Team Jacob or Team Switzerland (I've been told this is the official terminology for the apathetic plurality), the media buzz for this mega-event is inescapable, and the comics industry is no exception.
As much crap as the series takes, it owes a large amount to the otherwise male-dominated field of comic books. Looking at these crossovers, it's evident that there's actually not such a huge difference between Stephanie Myer and our beloved sequential narrative. No really. Read on.
Kick-Ass, Mark Millar's 2008 series and self-proclaimed "Greatest Superhero Book Of All Time" is making its way to the big screen in 2010. Nic Cage will be playing Big Daddy, father to the 11-year old assassin Hit-Girl, with Aaron Johnson as Dave Lizewski/Kick-Ass and Christopher "McLovin'" Mintz-Plasse as Red Mist. Rounding out the cast is Lyndsy Fonseca (Desperate Housewives! Anybody? No?) as the love interest Katie Deauxma who thinks Dave just isn't into her that way. Kick-Ass drops April 2010, though you can check out the trailer here, if you don't mind the myspace.
Next time someone tells you Aquaman is lame, show them this.

WARNING! For those of you who are true-blue fans of Watchmen, planning on getting your copy of the movie this weekend, you need to be aware of something.
When promoting the movie, director Zack Snyder explained that while Tales of the Black Freighter was being made separate from the film, the special edition would weave it back into the movie, as they had shot all the transitions.
The Director's Cut, Special Edition DVD/Blu-Ray that was released on Tuesday does not contain Tales of the Black Freighter.
I'm a little pissed about this. I opened my copy today to discover a coupon for $10 off the 'Ultimate' Special Edition being released in December, which will have the Tales of the Black Freighter added in. I can understand them having to do more work to release the film that way, but they could at least warn us ahead of time about this, instead of a surprise let-down when I open the case.
So, if you absolutely want the Ultimate Special Edition with the Tales of the Black Freighter, you've got some waiting to do. If however, you just want to see the film portion, feel free to purchase the discs that are out now.
Consider yourself warned.
While that pesky thing called real life kicks my ass at the moment, enjoy some humor and violence inspired by our favorite Canadian, Wolverine.
(Sorry Alex Trebek, but it's true.)
Well, color me excited! The newest hero getting the stand-alone animated movie treatment from DC is Green Lantern! Sinestro is the main villain and looks to be in his awesome Sinestro Corps outfit, leading me to wonder if we'll ever get a Sinestro War/Blackest Night/War of Lights movie. God wouldn't that be fantastic.
Abin Sur looks a little funky but I like it. No Guardians get shown. Oh and yes, the movie has Kilowog. (he's the best one) The Green Lantern suits look a bit more armored than normal.
The release date is only specified as Summer 2009. I'm wager it will be out around Comic-con and we'll see a panel on it. There's also a neat little documentary about GL and the making of the movie at the movie site.
