Artist Spotlight: Tim Fish

fish1.jpg

I had the pleasure of briefly meeting Tim Fish during NYCC, and flipping through his available books, finding a clear cartoony style that still had a solid sense of draftsmanship behind the work, a feature that I'll often criticize gay indie authors for lacking. His work is characterized by Archie-like character sketches, but he also incorporates lots of enjoyable hand-lettering to his sketches. His sketchblog features some classic Wonderwoman and Teen Titans that look genuinely silver-age under his pen, and he shows an eye for dramatic layouts even in his daily sketchbook (Tim's just returned from India with illustrated diary-posts). His work would be ideal for the 'Keep Comics Fun' wave that seems to be going around today, and I wouldn't mind seeing more of it. You listening, Marvel?

Alternately, you can find Tim's facebook page here.

Comic of the Week

Review: Wonder Woman #1 - #5 OK, so a couple of unkind reviews from me of late. Does that mean I hate the whole New 52? No, not at all. Does it mean that I only enjoy the new characters? Definitely not. Case in point: Wonder Woman is one of my favorite books of the relaunch. I think it's very good, with strong writing, an excellent ambience and fantastic art. Read on for why this reboot is the first time I've ever subscribed to Wonder Woman!...
