Jim McCann To Write Northstar And Crew

0213_alphaflightpeanuts-300x155.jpg

Jim McCann takes on the "Alpha Flight" crew in a one-shot coming out this November. Personally, I'm not too well acquainted with the team outside of their appearance in the Ultimate universe, where they were mostly "the pricks that nearly killed Northstar". But pre-release interviews indicate that he'll be playing up the team's dysfunctional tendencies, and McCann's become my go-to guy for Marvel team-ups with his ongoing Hawkeye & Mockingbird, a book that's keen to show its characters' faults without the usual level of bordering-on-absurd grittiness that's come to characterize psychologically sensitive comics. Look for a review once Chaos War hits later this year.

I'm guessing this will be yet another new team, what with most of the original team having died to whatshisname and then half of the replacement Omega Flight either dying, joining Osborn or going back to the US.
Or maybe they're gonna resurrect the old team.

In a way...worse. If this Chaos War tag has anything to do with it, it seems likely the team will be brought present from some previous point in their timeline? (God I hate hate hate time travel) Jim McCann seems like an awesome writer, but geez, god, why does it have to be timetravel?

I've always thought Northstar and Aurora were badass, (but whats up with brother/sister twins at Marvel with the one being "arrogant" speedster and the sister being absolutley crazy?) but it seems like so few writers actually want to do anything with them. The more Northstar screentime we get the better.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Wonder Woman #1 - #5 OK, so a couple of unkind reviews from me of late. Does that mean I hate the whole New 52? No, not at all. Does it mean that I only enjoy the new characters? Definitely not. Case in point: Wonder Woman is one of my favorite books of the relaunch. I think it's very good, with strong writing, an excellent ambience and fantastic art. Read on for why this reboot is the first time I've ever subscribed to Wonder Woman!...
