Il Palazzo's Weekly Heroes Rant!

heroes.jpg

Welcome to Il Palazzo's Weekly Heroes Rant! Each week, I hope to inspire you to get off your couch (after watching Heroes), and jump into your computer chair (so you can read about Heroes). Beware though, I'll be recapping each episode as it airs, so spoilers will abound. Look forward to my often-wrong theories, erratic comments, and comparisons to the comics the show steals material from is inspired by. Hit the jump for my rant on this week's episode!

I expected Claire's mom to find Aqualad pretty quick. A guy can only live in a closet so long, you know?

Why is it gung-ho guy looks more like a mutant then the other actual don't-call-them-mutants?

They could fight the pool cleaners easily! You know....since Aquaboy can breathe under water.

FINALLY. They use Matt's power in the way it was meant to be used!

Claire's mom is SUCH a hippie. Take THAT, the man! ...and by "the man" I mean Noah.

"Your father and I breaking up has nothing to do with you." Really? You think anyone's gonna buy that. Isn't Claire the entire reason Noah's so obsessed with catching bad guys?

Yay! Sylar's remembering his past. That's cool as long as it doesn't end in a flashba-aw, crap.

Claire hooking up with Aquadude isn't that icky now that I think about it. At least, not NEARLY as icky as ElleXSylar was. Or even remotely as icky as Claire and her real-life boyfriend...(are they even still dating?)

Geez, the segue between Claire's story and Nathan's was terrible.

...almost as terrible as the segue between Noah's and Sylar's.

Ok, WHAT THE HELL. Sylar's flashback? This is something you'd see on CBS. (Although it did give a cool insight to the character)

I don't think all that tongue action's gonna help her breathe under water, guy.

Oh snap! Nathan saved Peter's life! Again!

I can't see them killing Matt off. Especially since Daphne's still alive. And especially since he has the magic-painting-power-that's-totally-useful-now.

Holy crap! I thought Sylar killed the puppet master! I should re-watch the last volume.

Nah.

But the truly thought provoking question.... Why was Mr. Muggles growling at a Sandwich?

Have you ever been around tiny dogs like that? They bark at EVERYTHING.

I thought he killed the puppet master too. And where are Hiro and Ando? They got a message 2 weeks ago with an address and the message save Matt Parkman...

The story Aqua Hottie tells about how he figured out his power doesn’t make since. He said that he was on the swim team and one day realized he didn’t need to come up for air. But on the swim team he would be holding his breath while underwater. So he wouldn’t suddenly breathe in water for no reason.

Hypothetically, some one could have held his head under water until he had to inhale then he realized he could breath water just fine. But then why make up the other story? Perhaps he is just a geek who wants to pretend he was once on a team. Or perhaps the original water breathing episode was in fact a swirly. I for one wouldn’t want admit to the hot girl I discovered my powers by inhaling toilet water.

In any case I don’t see how being able to breathe water makes it possible to exhale enough oxygen for another person to breathe. I think he has his power wrong. It would fit the data and make better sense if his power was really the ability to spontaneously generate oxygen in the lungs. This means he doesn’t need an outside the body source of oxygen. This works with the power discovery story Aqua Hottie told Clare and fit with the scene in the pool. Also it would easily be mistaken for simple water breathing.

wow...you put a lot of thought into that

Um...Claire can't die. Wouldn't that mean she can just breathe underwater all by herself? She could sit in that pool all day and her body would just keep healing her.

Oh and I hope that the explosion painting is just about Matt. If ANOTHER plot comes up where someone is gonna blow up an entire city I'll fucking barf.

I think asphyxiation is one of the few ways Claire can die. Since lack of oxygen would shut down the brain and as we have learned, no brain = no healing. However I think she would "revive" if someone got her out of the water. Even if she can just heal over and over I would imagine it would be very painful "drowning" without dying...

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
