Does This Mean I Could Have Magnetic Powers And Not Even Know It?

x-ray-2.jpg

If you're like every other superhero fan out there, you've undoubtedly wished you had super powers yourself. Who wouldn't, right? Of course you were always dragged back to reality when you realized that you couldn't fly, turn invisible or see through walls. Those things just don't happen in real life.

Well, they never used to anyway.

It would appear that a little girl from Western Russia of all places is the world's first superhuman. She isn't even one of the so-called hyperhumans being born from the survivors of the Chernobyl nuclear disaster either. No, this perfectly normal girl can simply look into your body and see things she's not supposed to.

Got an ulcer? She can see the dark spot in your stomach. Have cancer? She can look into you and pinpoint its location. Despite test after test, she continues to confound medical science with her amazing skill.

I'm just waiting for her to grab some spandex, hit the sewing machine and bust out on the streets of Moscow to defend the weak and huddled masses yearing to breathe free. I wonder what her name will be?

For the full scoop on this insane story (and more science than I have any right trying to explain), head over to the Discovery Channel website.

Meh, it's more likely than not that this is a fraud, or at the least that she is highly deluded. Richard Wiseman and Ray Hymen did some pretty simple test conditions to see if she was able to do what she said. And she wasn't. Her answers were vague, but of course she and her "handlers" say that the test was biased...

Until she is willing to undergo more strict testing and stop just spouting claims... Meh.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1 I literally clapped my hands together and said OhMyGodYesssss when the friendly staff member at my regular shop held this book out to hand it to me. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung finally - finally - return to this title with a nine issue limited series. I will spare you paragraphs of pontification and cut to the chase: it's not just good, it's the best thing Marvel has going, period. Read on for the pontification and petty quibbles!...
