Il Palazzo's Weekly Heroes Rant!

heroes_captionthis.jpg

Welcome to Il Palazzo's Weekly Heroes Rant! Each week, I hope to inspire you to get off your couch (after watching Heroes), and jump into your computer chair (so you can read about Heroes). Beware though, I'll be recapping each episode as it airs, so spoilers will abound. Look forward to my often-wrong theories, erratic comments, and comparisons to the comics the show steals material from is inspired by. Hit the jump for my rant on this week's episode!

Sadly, I have no idea where the picture came from. It made me chuckle and I thought it would be nice to share.

Why is Arthur the only one that DRAWS the future? Everyone else painted it. I didn't get a good enough look, but it's still Tim Sale's art, no?

Am I the only one that thinks Sylar quickly calling Arthur and Angela "mom and dad" really really weird?

You think characters/storylines/etc. created in those constantly promoted webisodes will EVER actually matter in the main story?

Why was Kristen Bell listed as a "special guest star?" Uh-oh....

Why didn't Claire mention her dad causing not-Cloak to commit suicide?

So...Sylar's gonna be some kind of third-party anti-hero thing along with Elle? Well, at least someone's not choosing one side or the other finally.

Wow, Claire's dad is teaching her to be a badass? Who knew he'd finally cave?

Wait...baseball? Really?

So, Daphne grew up in Smallville?

You know, with Hiro slowly picking up English again, I can totally see him "tee-heeing" at all the naughty words.

Ew...Mohinder sleeps in a cocoon now? Nasty.

HAHAHA..."Why are you turning your head sideways?" I've wondered this myself.

How did Noah close the door behind them when he walked out with Claire in his arms?

"Hory Clap!" Oh Asian-stereotype Hiro, how I love you.

Har har, Robot Chicken creators. Yes Heroes. You have nerd cred. We get it.

So the Haitian's brother is Luke Cage? Ok, not really, but I can dream right?

Does ANYONE really think the power loss is permanent? I bet they're back by the next episode.

Is Matt still technically married? I can't remember, but shouldn't he file for divorce before he starts hitting on really fast paralyzed girls?

Wait.....a speedster that's paralyzed? That doesn't make any effing sense.

My next week prediction? Noah gets the shot out....right as the eclipse ends. And a pissed off Sylar wakes up with one hell of a headache. Elle on the other hand...

When I heard Daphne namedrop Lawrence, Kansas, I was excited cause I have good friends who live there. Unfortunately, they namedropped one of the only places in Kansas that ISN'T miles upon miles of corn. Lawrence is a kind of trendy art college town, not Smallville D=.

Everyone looked hilarious doing their power poses while nothing came out.

I'm hoping that Claire will die, because that would shake up the Heroes game so much right now, but I can't see them losing their star player right now.

"The corn will keep on coming" Along with Sylar's line "I hate Heroes" the meta was strong in this episode.

I know he was slimy and icky, but I still liked the glimpse of Mohinder booty *shame*.

I kinda also loved Sylar howling in pain when his arm was screwed up. Everyone is much lamer without their powers.

So, the Haitian gets this out of nowhere brother, but no word is made of his superpowered daddy? Boo. Still, he is the Haitian, so he is automatically awesome.

In the official description of the episode, they said Athens, GA was Daphne's hometown, which is also a sort of trendy college town (and also where I live). We were watching it, waiting to see how they represented Athens, but we quickly figured out it was changed to Lawrence, Kansas. We assumed it was because they realized that house would look very out of place here! Looks like they made the same mistake with Lawrence!

I think the characters will get their powers back after the eclipse, including those who had their powers stolen by Arthur Petrelli (I think Peter will only regain his initial power of copying powers, not all of those he copied; not sure how it will play out with Sylar). I think some of them might find their powers increased or changed somehow.

The funniest thing had to be Parkman cocking his head to use his powers but nothing happening... I mean, why does he have to cock his head to use his powers anyway!

The Haitian's father was talked about in the comic. But like everything now it was retconned i guess.

My bet says by the end of 2 more episodes will the powers be back on.

Anyone else think 9th wonder of the world must be the most boring book ever. Chronicling the story of some Japanese guy who can stop time. Also how many books did Issac Mendez have in the bin before died?

The Robot chicken crew are around for 4 episodes i heard.

Also when does an 10 year old know stuff about the heroes journey by Campbell?

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
