Il Palazzo's Weekly Heroes Rant!

nooo.jpg

Welcome to Il Palazzo's Weekly Heroes Rant! Each week, I hope to inspire you to get off your couch (after watching Heroes), and jump into your computer chair (so you can read about Heroes). Beware though, I'll be recapping each episode as it airs, so spoilers will abound. Look forward to my often-wrong theories, erratic comments, and comparisons to the comics the show steals material from is inspired by. Hit the jump for my rant on this week's episode!

Er....Flint's Meredith's brother? Well, at least now we can feel a little better knowing she would have never dated the guy.

Suddenly, Eric Roberts out of friggin' NOWHERE!

Wait, this was supposed to be a year ago? But he died in season one! Think the writers just guessed at what the timing should be?

Oooh...Sylar tried to off himself, and Elle saved him? If only she knew then, etc, etc.

"Villains." Think this will last the rest of the season, or at least the rest of this arc?

Nathan's own dad tried to kill him? What a harsh retcon.

About time they had a Colossus! So what if it was a bum?

What's creepier? Elle flirting with Sylar? Or Sylar flirting back?

Wow, how can those two be brother and sister? One's Claire's mom with bitchin' fire powers, the other one's a hick.

Linderman is a BITCH. Hard to believe this was the driving force of season one.

Poor Mama Petrelli. I wonder how much of her evilness can just be attributed to Arthur's toying with her head?

What was with all the weird segways? Hiro's face being doors, then a scene fading into some food. Just a bit of out of place cinematography for this show.

Think Linderman had his plans for Nathan all along?

WOW. Claire's mom started the train fire that she helped in. This episode was ALL about retcons, but this was a pretty nice one.

Once again, Sylar steals a useless ability. Or once "back then" Sylar steals a useless ability. You know what I mean.

Heh, Mama Petrelli "killed" Arthur. Awesome. I really think I like her now. Here's hoping she wakes up soon.

And holy crap at the ending. Poor African Isaac had to go out off screen? A shame.

....and is Hiro powerless now? Hm...seems like the writers are taking time travel completely out of the equation at this point. GOOD.

Anyone gonna try to watch the extra episodes online? Unlike "Going Postal," it actually looks like they spent money on it.

I'd LIKE to watch the extra episodes with yummy hotness guy, but love interest? That just turns me off COMPLETELY. So no thanks.@_@

I think I almost teared up with all the crap Ma Petrelli had to go through. She kinda reminds me of my mom....uh...>_>

Eh,I'm going to give the webisodes a try, but I'm a bit worried that the hot guy is going to be to horribly contrived and just as annoying as Mayyyyyyyya.

Also his powers are enhanced probability prediction....and superspeed too! I just find that an odd combo.

Emo Guy's power was the ability to Fingerbang!

Eric Roberts was as slimy as ever, but he has a heart of gold too? I would have never thought it possible.

I loved how HRG was watching Sylar look Fingerbang's brain. It was like he was watching a documentary on Animal Planet.

This episode had some fantastic writing ("I lied, that wasn't your mother's recipe" and "god gave you an older sister instead of a brain" stood out as particularly funny) and I liked the retcons, if you can ignore the timeline errors, which isn't too bad for me. It is all a big timey wimey ball anyway.

I think what should have woken Hiro from his dream walk was dream walking-in-on his father and Ma Patrelli's relations:)

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1 I literally clapped my hands together and said OhMyGodYesssss when the friendly staff member at my regular shop held this book out to hand it to me. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung finally - finally - return to this title with a nine issue limited series. I will spare you paragraphs of pontification and cut to the chase: it's not just good, it's the best thing Marvel has going, period. Read on for the pontification and petty quibbles!...
