Alan Moore Comes One Step Closer To Death

Owlman and the Outsiders?
I realize the Watchmen movie is going to be high profile, but really? Absorbing it into the mainline DCU? Am I the only one who thinks this may not be the best idea?
(That's the cover to Batman and the Outsiders #15 by the by.)

Are you sure that's not just an Owlman analogue? Yeah, I definitely don't think they should bring the Watchmen into the DCU (I mean, they already have the Charlton characters on which they were based, so they could easily just revamp them slightly and put them on a team or something). I guess they would be fiscally foolish not to take advantage of it in some way, though.
Isn't "Owlman" also Batman's evil Earth-3 counterpart? While I won't deny the costume is reminiscent of the Watchmen flick, I would go with Occam's Razor in this situation. It COULD be Owlman from Watchmen, but there's already an established Batman analogue (though evil) with the same name in the DCU.
I'm sorry to be the stuffy know-it-all fanboi, but the character from Watchmen is Nite Owl, not Owlman.
Thank you, Starri and EshuElegbara. Owlman predates Nite Owl by decades, and is the Crime Syndicate of America's Batman analogue. Watchmen's characters weren't original, the story was, so sometimes seeing what someone whose preference for Marvel comics is evident thinks is a Watchmen rip-off needs to be taken with a grain of salt.
@Tony: No need to be mean about it, we can ALL agree that Owlman is a fairly obscure character. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the move to put Owlman with the Outsiders was inspired by Nite Owl (Thank you, Starri, I lost my mind briefly)and Watchmen. Seeing as this picture looks VERY MUCH like Nite Owl, plus the proximity to the Watchmen movie, it's an easy mistake to make.
Back up off our Goblin, sir. We won't have you fanboying at our precocious little scamp of a blogger.
P.S., that was the Royal We. Oh yeah. I went there.
Sadly, the Watchmen world will be getting closer to the proper DCU. Watchmen was based on the Charlton comics characters, which were from Earth-4. With the recreation of the multiverse after 52, Grant Morrison has stated that he's going to explore a lot of the "new" universes after he finishes Final Crisis.
Since nearly everything he does is ripping off of Alan Moore stories, he's already stated that when he explores the new Earth-4, it's going to be a world just like the Watchmen universe.
Actually, that was much nicer than I usually am about Goblin's Marvel fanboydom. Usually I call him all sorts of names and make fun of his green skin and pointy cap.
And the Crime Syndicate Owlman has been around a lot lately, both in some Justice League storylines and in Trinity.
