Moment Of The Week - Giant Crossover Showdown

week13winner.jpg

Last time The Authority won handily, but this week I'm doing things a bit different, to get back in the groove.

It's a showdown between Final Crisis and Secret Invasion, and who has the best badass archer. So without further ado...

Secret Invasion #7

In the midst of the giant Earth vs. Skrulls Brouhaha, Hawkeye (the new one) gets injured, and Vision has to take her out of the battle. This leaves Hawkeye (the old one) free to grab his old bow.

That last arrow? Yeah, he makes the shot.

Final Crisis #4

Darkseid's soldiers are at busting into the Hall of Justice, and Ollie stays behind to destroy the transporter, so that Black Canary and the Flash's family can get away.

No, I have no idea why they ride dogs. They just do.

Now Vote!

Between the two I guess I'll pick the Hawkeye moment. For me the real moment of the week was in Final Crisis 4 when Black Canary and Green arrow say goodbye, the whole "pretty bird" and kiss thing made me say AWWWW.

They ride big-ass dogs because that's the way Jack Kirby drew them, way back when. Yet another reason I'm not that fond of Kirby. And, if you notice, there are two factions of dog-riders this week--the bad guys, and the fallen Atomic Knights, who ride giant Dalmatians.

That “last arrow” thing is so clichéd. It would have been interesting if he missed and still managed to save the moment with a last second gambit that he had to improvise.

But to be fair Hawkeye (the old one) is my least favorite of the arrow slingers. Hell I even like Arrowette.

Wait... isn't GA all PETA and stuff? Yet here he is, brutally murdering dogs simply because he has issues with their riders.

Almost as bad as that model whose fur-draped photos showed up. INTRIGUE!

Yeah, I'm gonna say neither because a) I dislike how easily the Skrulls are getting butt-kicked in what is supposed to be their big event and b) I'm a pretty big animal lover. Every single arrow in the dogs and none in the riders pisses me off.

Comic of the Week

Northstar's Boyfriend Coming In January! You guys may recall I was a bit cranky about Northstar and his lack of lovin' about a year and a half ago. In fact, at the time, I issued a challenge to Marvel to get him a kiss by June 2009 or I would declare him not really gay. I have not forgotten about this. However, when the X-men moved to San Francisco this year, we were teased with the existence of what looked to be Northstar's boyfriend (and manager), so I delayed judgment until we could see more. Since then, Northstar hasn't had a lot of major appearances, as there have been about a thousand major crossover events in the Marvel universe in the last six months, and each one tends to disrupt the normal storyline for most books, including the many X-books. So I waited. Our patience seems to have been rewarded! Artist Tim Fish revealed on his blog that his upcoming story in Nation X #2 (which comes out in Jan.) is a story about Northstar, and will feature Kyle, his boyfriend in an 8-page story. I'm not sure if an actual kiss is in it, but it's implied that there is some lovin' going on. Check out some sketches of Northstar, Kyle, and Aurora below, and we'll keep you up to date when we get closer to Jan. NATION X #2 1/6/10 [TimFishWorks]...
