Holy Unnecessary Crossover, Batman! MK Vs DC Has A Storyline?!

If you've followed our news on the forthcoming Mortal Kombat Vs. DC Universe you'll know I'm not what you would call "excited" about it. Everything I see about it seems to make me want it less.

Now we get another trailer for the game, this time showing us the story that slams two worlds together (pun intended). We also get a glimpse at some characters for the first time. Lex Luthor can be seen in his Kryptonite-powered suit hanging out with Deathstroke the Terminator. On the "Huh?" side of the MK universe - really, Quan Chi? Who was clamoring for him?

So check out the storyline trailer below which makes me mildly interested in the game, even if the story itself is beyond trite.

So they Crisis on Infinite Earths'd it, eh? Not too shabby. I was expecting much, much worse.

I'd like to see there be an option to "fix" what's going on, because I can't imagine Superman, GL, or Flash being cool with destroying an entire universe to survive.

... Then again, I'll be playing as Deathstroke anyway. :-P

Addendum: I've always thought Quan Chi was one of those really cool characters who had the bad luck of being in terrible games. I like to think that, if this one does it right, he'll be as iconic a villain as any of the MK characters.

I'm not actually watching the vid, but I'm wondering (jokingly) if this means the MK Earth is part of the 52.

The inclusion of Deathstroke actually piques my interest some. He's never really been included in the more mainstream discussions of DC's badases ad he really does deserve his place among the elite of Luthor and the Joker.

I'll give Midway a point for his inclusion.

@Goblin: My cynical side would like to say that he's only getting his due now because of Teen Titans, but at the same time he HAS been moving and shaking even more in the comics as of late. I'd like to see what they do with him, and whether they were able to pull Ron Perlman away from Fallout 3 to lend his very sexy vocal cords to our dear friend Mr. Wilson.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1 I literally clapped my hands together and said OhMyGodYesssss when the friendly staff member at my regular shop held this book out to hand it to me. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung finally - finally - return to this title with a nine issue limited series. I will spare you paragraphs of pontification and cut to the chase: it's not just good, it's the best thing Marvel has going, period. Read on for the pontification and petty quibbles!...
