First Footage Leaked From Dragonball Movie

3260132_main.jpg

Some books should not be made into films. Simple fact, there are just certain stories that are made for print and should not be made into a movie - especially a live action film with actual people.

Top of the list of this category is one of the most well known Manga books in the world, Dragonball. The series of crazy acrobatics and insane aerial battles look just fine in print, but seeing a flesh and blood actor with glowing (and vertical) blond hair battle a seven foot tall lizard man while flinging balls of crackling yellow energy is just something I don't think modern cinema is able to realistically convey.

That said, 20th Century Fox is bringing this insane film to theaters on April 10th, 2009. The official trailer will hit the net and cinemas on October 17th, but we're internet people. We don't wait for official launches. No, we watched the leaked footage someone recorded on their cell phone at a convention.

Well, what do you know? BAM! KAPOW! has just such a video! Take a look.

I don't see this going well... DBZ was killed with GT [and the DB saga in comparasion is boring].

If they had to make a movie, why not start at least with the Saiyan arc?!

[I can't envision a melding of both the Saiyan and Frieza arcs in one film working too well, unfortunately, since this isn't the LoTRs...]

Even though I think it will be terrible, it can't be worse than Dead or Alive. I expect fun drinking games to be had!

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
