Moment Of The Week #10

Last week Scandal and Knockouts love from beyond the grave took first place (seriously, I'm still all misty), and this week we have the battle of the heavyweight titles!
This week we look at Secret Invasion, Final Crisis, Magneteo: Testament, Manhunter, and Invincible.
So join me after the jump, and be warned. Spoilers lie beyond. So if you still have to pick up any of these books, don't read ahead because it'll ruin the surprise!
X-Men: Magneto - Testament #1
This series is expanding Magneto's origins as a child in Nazi Germany, and doing so with reverence. The first issue shows his father being punished just as the Nuremberg laws take effect, and his schoolteacher who obviously believes him inferior because he is Jewish. He wins a javelin throw and it's blamed on a mistake. When he repeats his success, he is accused of cheating and kicked out of school. On the way out, the German students attack...
Ladies and Gentlemen, witness the birthing moment of Magneto.
Manhunter #34
Obsidian and his boyfriend get some screen time (page time?) this issue while our heroine is off fighting baddies.
Kinda hot.
Secret Invasion #6
Thor shows up, Skrulls show up, the sides can tell who is who again... all that's left is "Avengers..."
FINALLY.
Invincible #52
Invincible's kid brother ends up killing two villains and they debate about the sanctity of life. The debate is heated and Omni-kid asks an interesting question. Marks response is...
Chilling to say the least.
Final Crisis: Revelations #2
After being pointlessly blamed by the Spectre for being head of some group she wants to stop, The Question gets saved by God's Mercy, (a nun, interestingly), and is is transported away. She finds Kate and goes to help her but...
Damn Anti-Life Equation.
Now Vote!

wow, on Magneto!
wow, on Invincible!
but what's up with all the square jaws in the Avengers' spread?
Cap has a butt-chin.
My vote is for the Manhunter moment. It wasn't something that was given press, it wasn't a huge part of the story, but in one page, Marc Andreyko made a lot of gay fans very happy. This is how gay relationships should be handled, just as normal as a straight relationship.
Agreed on Manhunter taking the prize. It's nice to see gay relationship displayed in a normal, jovial view.
Now, I know that I've been out of touch with Marvel recently, but I've got some questions about the Marvel spread. Is that Franklin Richards in the lower left? Why doesn't he have pupils? (Black Widow too, for that matter.) On the large woman's shoulder, there is a character who looks remarkably like DC's Deadman. Also, is that Howard the Duck hiding behind that large woman's breast??
"Now, I know that I've been out of touch with Marvel recently, but I've got some questions about the Marvel spread....
-Is that Franklin Richards in the lower left?"
No, that's Phobos, the son of Aries.
-"Why doesn't he have pupils?"
Umm, I'm not altogether sure, but I think it's supposed to show him using his power to create fear in somebody.
-"(Black Widow too, for that matter.)"
Heh, I'm just going to guess that it's artist interrogatory, that or he was just too bleeping lazy to bother with pupils.
-"On the large woman's shoulder, there is a character who looks remarkably like DC's Deadman.
The large woman is Stature, or Cassie Lang, the daughter of the deceased Ant-Man II. The guy you see is supposed to be one of the Brothers Grimm, his brother is beside him.
-"Also, is that Howard the Duck hiding behind that large woman's breast??"
Yep, Leinil Yu is a big fan of the Duck and had to sneak him in there.
Thanks, RogueFan! You rock!
So... if Phobos instills fear in people, is it possible that he could get Daredevil, AKA "The Man Without Fear,' to change his moniker?
-"...that or he was too bleeping lazy to bother with pupils."
Clearly, he was too focused on chins.
