Video: Next Avengers

Movie Web has a sneak peek at the next Marvel DVD, hitting stores September 2nd. Taking place some years in the future, the movie tells the tale of the children of some Avengers as they band together to hold back Ultron's return.

Waiting for a New Avengers or Runaways DVD? Sit back, it'll be a while.

Ugh. They may as well call it "Power Pack: The Motion Picture."

I'd actually rather see a Power Pack movie. With several kid-friendly properties available to them, I'm still stunned they'd create this half-assed new team. Even if they wanted the brand recognition of the Avengers, they still had the Young Avengers or the Marvel Adventures Avengers.

I was at the screening of this at Comic-Con and while it is pretty kiddish still has some pretty cool stuff. I liked most of the characters and might actually be buying this for my little nephew.

I am pretty new to comics tho, so maybe having less of an association with the original characters affects my view.

What I am about to say will be wildly unpopular!

I'm willing to give it a shot. I know they don't have precedence in the comics or anything like that, but I've enjoyed the four Marvel Animated movies they've already put out, and this one is intriguing me more the more I see of it. So yes. Optimistic.

Oh, and gimme more Dr. Strange.

Sweet lord, why is everyone's reaction to anything not strictly from the comics immediate revulsion? Give the frickin' thing a chance. It looks to me that they're trying to address a younger market than us, anyway.

At any rate, Ultron looks pretty cool.

My problem is that they have several IPs that fit the mold of what they were aiming for already. And even if they didn't want to use preexisting characters, they really didn't have to create such a lame ripoff. There's nothing original about the next generation of Avengers who are simply retreads of their parents. We've seen it many times and, from the look of the characters only, possibly better. Why not just create an A-Next movie?

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Wonder Woman #1 - #5 OK, so a couple of unkind reviews from me of late. Does that mean I hate the whole New 52? No, not at all. Does it mean that I only enjoy the new characters? Definitely not. Case in point: Wonder Woman is one of my favorite books of the relaunch. I think it's very good, with strong writing, an excellent ambience and fantastic art. Read on for why this reboot is the first time I've ever subscribed to Wonder Woman!...
