LGBT Character Of The Week: Hector

Hector_01.JPG

Oy, and you thought I forgot, didn't you? This weeks character is Hector, from the pages of the Incredible Hulk.

Hector is a member of The Pantheon, a group of heroes descended from and led by the immortal half-god Agamemnon. As a descendant of Agamemnon, Hector has enhanced endurance, agility, and healing. He also wields a mysterious plasma mace, that vanishes when not in use. As a member of The Pantheon he has access to other high tech tools as well.

Hector appeared in the Hulk after he was briefly Agamemnon's successor, but is believed to still be working with The Pantheon. Interestingly, this storyline also brought SHIELD in as well, and we learned from Nick Fury that a SHIELD regulation is 'don't give gays any grief'.

I was trying to come up with a witty comment that would enable me to link to a hot picture of Eric Bana playing Hector in the (besides the man-candy) awful movie Troy. But I couldn't, so I'll just link to it...

Boy, did I like the Pantheon days of the Hulk comic...Engaging stories, phenomenal art, and a gay character who actually was among the important ones!

Of course, Hector always had the "80's porn star" vibe to him, but who cares? ;)

And, well, Eric Bana...The one reason Troy wasn't a complete waste of two perfectly good hours of my life!

Best,
J.

I loved this era of Hulk comics too! They were funny, smart, touching and totally surprising! I loved when Hector and Northstar we chatting it up by the punch bowl at Rick Jone's wedding to Margo! That is probably the closest Northstar ever came to getting him some man on man action in a comic! :)

Been so long since I read those Hulks...possibly my absolute favorite run of any comic. At least when I was a wee teen-ager. Have the Pantheon surfaced at all since those days?

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
