Gays and Dolls

Ah, Wednesdays. New Comic Book Day. That little day in the middle of the week that helps us get through the rest of it. Wednesdays also have new toys, and everyone loves toys. Except some, but I'm not talking to those people right now. They don't like toys.

This week is the third full week, which means new solicitations. DC has quite a few this time around, so it'll be a bit of a list. But first, the new stuff.

Hasbro releases more of its Marvel Mighty Mugg line, including Black Costumed Spidey, Doctor Octopus, and Ghost Rider. As always, they're cute as hell even if they are a bit odd looking; they sell out pretty quickly. For whatever reason, Diamond doesn't keep them in stock, even though Hasbro seems to still sell them.

Justice Series 8 is also out, featuring Batgirl, Supergirl, Toyman and Captain Cold. I kind of like Supergirl and Batgirl to a certain degree, but their faces are very weird. The site's pictures show a better paint job than the good forty I saw at work; they all look very vacant. Well, more vacant than action figures should look.

DC has solicited a LOT this week. First up is the Justice League New Frontier boxed set which has Wonder Woman, Batman, Green Lantern and Superman in it. Other than Wonder Woman not looking like she's constipated; the rest of the figures look the same as their original releases.
Speaking of Alex Ross based figures (y'know...before...), they've announced some based off of covers from Justice Society of America: Golden Age Green Lantern, Golden Age Flash, Sandman and Starman. I'm a bit surprised there isn't at least one female character in the mix. I mean, there's about as many women as there are men, you'd think at least one of them would be in each wave.

More after the jump!

World of Warcraft has another wave set, this time based on NPCs, mostly those you get to fight: Gnoll Warlord Gangris Riverpaw, Lady Vashj deluxe figure, Murlock Two Pack: Fish Eye and Gibbergill, Succubus Demon and Tuskarr: Tavru Akua.

For 1:6 inch figures, there's a re-release of the Dark Knight ones: Joker and Batman. There's a new Sgt. Rock 1:6 figure coming out as well; apparently with pre-ripped uniform.

I love my Ame Comi Wonder Woman statue and I'm looking forward to the Hawkgirl one; but now there are two more: Harley Quinn and Poison Ivy. I'm surprised at how covered Ivy is considering some of the other in the Ame Comi line...

As for traditional statues and busts, there's another Batman Black and White based off of Gotham Knight, a bust of Hal Jordan as Green Lantern, and what seems to be re-releases of a Batman bust, statue and a Joker bust from the Dark Knight movie.

Finally, Diamond is releasing a remake of the toy bridge that went with all the Mego Star Trek figures in the 70s. It doesn't really look like the Enterprise's bridge, but it definitely looks nostalgic for those who remember it.

They also have a Darth Vader bank, though why you'd want to trust your money to a Dark Lord of the Sith is beyond me. I mean, he and the Emperor totally wasted money on a long war and built not one, but TWO Deathstars that had pretty crippling weaknesses. Imagine the debt they must have accrued...

That's all for this week. If I missed any or there are some in the future you want me to talk about, send me an email.
