Boys On Film

1907476277_048dee6496.jpg

The Hollywood Reporter is, well, reporting that the comic book series The Boys is headed to the silver screen. Once a property of DC's Wildstorm imprint, the book was cancelled among a hefty controversy, but was immediately picked up again at Dynamite Entertainment.

Focusing on a small group of CIA operatives, the titular "Boys," the book is a deconstruction of superheroes in the modern world. Imagine if Gruenwald's Squadron Supreme were written today ... and contained a lot more violence and sex. The book is written and drawn by Garth Ennis and Darick Robertson.

The first question to come to mind: Will Simon Pegg be asked to join the film since he is obviously the visual basis for the book's main character?

And if you get the reference of the title, please let me know so I don't feel as old as I do for writing it.

Via.

Three minutes latah...

No, we get the reference. That doesn't mean, however, that you're not old, that just means that we're old too.

My cat was named after Simon Le Bon. Of course, he died of old age...

Well, thank you all. I don't know if I don't feel old anymore or if I now know I'm just among many other old geezers out there. Either way, I feel better now.

(Also, damn kids won't stay off my lawn.)

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1 I literally clapped my hands together and said OhMyGodYesssss when the friendly staff member at my regular shop held this book out to hand it to me. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung finally - finally - return to this title with a nine issue limited series. I will spare you paragraphs of pontification and cut to the chase: it's not just good, it's the best thing Marvel has going, period. Read on for the pontification and petty quibbles!...
