Attention LGBT creators! Prism has just announced that they will begin reviewing portfolios for the 2008 Queer Press Grant. This grant will help towards the publication of your creation. They will be on hand at Comic-Con later this month to review portfolios.

San Diego, CA - Prism Comics is seeking submissions for its fourth annual Queer Press Grant. The grant was established to encourage and help new LGBT comics creators. In conjunction, Prism will offer portfolio review at this year's San Diego Comic-Con International exclusively for those interested in applying to the grant.

"Prism is extremely proud to offer portfolio review this year," says David Stanley, Prism Board Member. "Along with the grant, portfolio review adds a whole new level to Prism's work to foster and develop new LGBT talent."

The application deadline for the Prism Comics Queer Press Grant is October 1, 2008. Application guidelines are detailed on the Prism Comics website at http://prismcomics.org/grant.php. Completed applications, along with queries about the grant, can be submitted to grants@prismcomics.org.

Past winners of the grant include Steve MacIsaac (Shiftlifter), Megan Gedris (YU+ME, I Was Kidnapped by Lesbian Pirates from Outer Space), Tommy Roddy (Pride High), and Justin Hall (Glamazonia, True Travel Tales). Prism awarded $1,000 each to the first two grant winners, while last year's tie resulted in an increased grant of $1,500 that was split between the two recipients.

Portfolio review will be offered at the 2008 San Diego Comic-Con International exclusively to those interested in applying for the Queer Press Grant. Phil Jimenez (The Amazing Spider-Man, Infinite Crisis) will be one of the industry professionals offering advice and critique. Jimenez will appear at the first session on Thursday, July 24 from 4-6pm, at Prism's booth. Other sessions will be held on Friday, July 25 from 4-6pm and on Sunday, July 27 from 2-4pm. Before attending the sessions, applicants are required to read through the application guidelines (http://prismcomics.org/grant.php).
