Gays and Dolls

Ah, Wednesdays. New Comic Book Day. That little day in the middle of the week that helps us get through the rest of it. Wednesdays also have new toys, and everyone loves toys. Except some, but I'm not talking to those people right now. They don't like toys.

It's a big week this week, but then it is solicitation time and San Diego is near, so that helps. On to what's new this week!

For those of you who are fans of mini-mates, I feel sorry for your bank accounts. This week we have the Battlestar Galactica: Razor boxed set, featuring Gina Inviere, Bill "Husker" Adama in classic pilot attire, Kendra Shaw, an old-fashioned Cylon Pilot and a Cylon Warrior. Then there's the assortment which includes: Cylon Pilot, Cylon Warrior, Cylon Commander, Pegasus Six, Gold Cylon Warrior, Dead Pegasus Six and Freefall Cylon; all sold separately at $4.99 each.

Then there is the Star Trek: Mirror Mirror Mini-Mates boxed set, which includes: Captain Kirk, Mr. Spock, Uhura, Sulu and Marlena Moreau.

From DC we have the Red Son boxed set for those of you who didn't pick up the Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman. The incentive this time around is the exclusive Bizarro. I didn't need him anyway for my Russian JLA... I guess that would be JLR.

DC also has their solicitations up for their upcoming figures, this round includes repaints some of the figures based on Ed McGuinness' works, featuring Batman, Superman, Flash, and Wonder Woman. Personally I actually like the repaints better than the original versions; which is rare.

DC has also solicited for a 1:6 scale figure of Sandman.

More after the jump!

For Angel fans, Diamond Direct is releasing a new Angel puppet, this time you actually can stick your hand up his ass and make him talk. Granted, they phrase it in a less humorous way: "the chance to stick their hands inside Puppet Angel and control his every word!" The puppet runs about $325, but even at that price, it actually goes pretty quickly. If you do want it, best let your local dealer know or you probably will be forking it out on eBay.

And even though Battlestar Galactica Series 2 figures haven't come out yet (now bumped back to late August), they're announcing Series 4. This round will be the leaders, such as: President Laura Roslin, Lee Adama (spoiler title), Admiral William Adama, and Previews Exclusive Admiral Helena Cain. There's also a rare case topper with Admiral William Adama with a mustache. Expect them on the fifth of Nevember. (yes, that's spelled Nevember)

At San Diego, they're giving away a Season 3 Chief Tyrol figure for anyone who's willing to donate blood. Actually, that's not true, they're giving it away to people who actually give blood; the discrimination policy is still in effect. For more info on Diamond Select's booth at San Diego, go here.

Marvel Select has Captain Marvel figure and an Iron Man movie bust coming out on the 17th of Whoknowsforsureber. Don't you just love accurate release dates?

That's it for this week. If I missed any or there are some in the future you want me to talk about, send me an email.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
