Dodson's Uncanny X-Men #500 Preview Pages.

DodsonUXM500.jpg

Comic Book Resources
has five pages up as a preview for Terry Dodson's part in Uncanny X-Men #500. I have to say, I definitely like his cover the best; and having his artwork in there to balance out the "art" of Greg "I Trace Porn" Land is enough to actually overwhelm my desire not to buy it.

X-Men has been mired by bad plots and boring stories for quite awhile, but Messiah CompleX seems to have changed that for a lot of people. What about you, PK readers? Has your interest in the X-Men returned (presuming you had interest to begin with). Is it still not what you want? Or are you just totally out of the loop?

I've not been impressed by what Messiah Complex (and subsequently Divided they stand) has done with the X-universe.

First they cancel my favorite series (New X-men) and replace it with the forgetfull Young X-men and to add insult to injury they gave many of the old characters from NXM severe psychological problems. Even though they didn't exhibit any signs of them beforehand and previous X-men never had such problems either.
Then they have the Uncanny team get into pointless situations to while away the time to 500.
X-factor remains to be a so-so title for me (even without irritating Layla). I don't have any problems with it, but it doesn't really do it for me.
I do quite like Legacy so far and it keeps Carey from further messing up Iceman.
And so far X-Force has been great (same team as with NXM afterall). I like the return of so many old enemies. Even if it's a bit overkill, nostalgia rules.

Worst of all is that it seems like all the stuff they went through (or the umpthienth status que change if you will) has just been about getting the X-men to SF. If that's all that's coming out of MC/DWS, I'm going to be very dissapointed.

Messiah CompleX started out slow for me, but became a crossover that reminded me of why I liked X-Men to begin with. Uncanny X-Men after that has continued the feeling, adding the familial air that is essential to X-Men but has, for the most part, been lacking lately. X-Force and Cable I've also enjoyed quite a bit, and was surprised by both.

Wolverine had an interesting story for the first time in years, and Old Man Logan looks just as good.

I agree, Young X-Men is no where near as good as New X-Men was, it's the only one that I actually dislike at the moment. Well, Legacy isn't the most interesting either...

this is just a promo poster, right? i mean , storm emma AND kitty (??) aren't going to be in this title, too.

are they?

that right there would be enough for me to say "no, thanks."

I really enjoyed House of M, but I couldn't really get into anything after that. Vulcan and Complex just couldn't keep my comic ADD in check. I have found X-force and X-factor pretty entertaining post MC as well.
500 seems like a good place to try and get reacquainted and I do like the cover that was linked here.

It's an incentive cover, something like 1 in 50 or 1 in 75. It's unlikely Kitty would be there considering, but Emma is very likely to be and Storm came back recently, so yeah. I doubt Dazzler is though. ;)

Actually i read that dazzler was going to be a main character of the series, as bizarre as that sounds.

Unless you intended that comment to be sarcastic...in which case, disregard!

I hadn't heard that. I'm not sure WHY they want to bring her back...

Brubacker and Matt Fraction seem to like her a lot...

I'm happy for the new direction coming up. UXM being the main family title is appropiate and AXM doing it's action summer blockbuster style storyline is great.

I don't spend my money Wolverine main titles, except the recent mini with Risso and Vaughn. That was nice. I see Logan enough on the team titles. Old Man Logan looks pretty gorgeous, but the story, yeah no thanks Millar. I'll stick with Millar on FF lol.

X-Force is ok, but they need actual covert costumes. I like Archangel plot going on and really X-23 has been my main draw, along with, Warpath. Cable, I'm dissapointed. The pacing sucks sucks suck. That's my complaint. Very little plot progression going on. Such a cool premise. Sticking with it. Sucker for them Summers people.

New-Xmen will be great once they out that Cyclops impostor, whether he is a Skrull or now, that is not Scott Summers running this team. I like the characters for the most part, except for that Wolf one. He is redundant and typical.

X-Men Legacy has been okay, but with the last issue revelation about Sinister...well things just got really fucking damn good. Can't miss it now.

Oh and I don't mind Greg Land's art, but Dodson is sooo much better so happy he is rotating artist.

I hope they haven't lost too much momentum but can't wait.

Really? For me it's not just that he traces, it's that he reuses what he traces. :P

"New-Xmen will be great once they out that Cyclops impostor"

This week's issue addresses it. Well, kinda.
