Wizard World Philadelphia: Quick Hits

Over the weekend Wizard World is being held in Philadelphia. Marvel has dominated most of the panels while, strangely, DC has only held a few. Here are some quick revelations from this weekend. Most news is coming from Newsarama and IGN.
- Marvel announced that they will be adapting Stephen King's The Stand into a 30 issue comic book. Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa (Angel: Revelations) will be writing and Mike Perkins (House of M: Avengers) will be on art duty.
- Marvel Zombies 3 was announced as well, with writer Fred Van Lente and artist Kevin Walker (Annihilation: Nova) handling the series. In this third outing, the Marvel zombies will interact with the 616 superheroes, with Van Lente promising that the story will take place in Marvel 616 continuity.
- The War Machine: Director of SHIELD story arc begins in Iron Man: Director of Shield #33. Due to Tony's current situation in Secret Invasion, it seems that War Machine is called to take over some of his duties.
- Over at the DC panel, Executive Editor Dan DiDio confirmed that "this really is the Final Crisis. The idea is to have a cohesive direction for the DC universe after this story is done."
- At Marvel's panel, a fan asked "Is Mephisto a Skrull, and can we get Peter and MJ back together now?" To which Editor in Chief Joe Quesada replied that Mephisto was not a Skrull. Damn.
- Lady Bullseye was introduced, a new villain with ties to (duh) Bullseye that will debut in September's issue of Daredevil. Ed Brubaker says that "[Lady Bullseye is] really just one flamboyant character in a bigger story that's going to go a lot of strange places."
- The X-Men's next big crossover is titled Manifest Destiny, and sees them establish a permanent HQ in the San Francisco bay area. Goodbye for real, New York!
- There's a new female Kraven over in Amazing Spider-Man starting in August.
- Marvel is planning a new Sentry mini-series this fall that will be in the Silver Age style called The Age of the Sentry.
- At the Amazing Spider-Man panel, writer Dan Slott dropped this bomb of a quote: "There is a gap in time where OMD and BND happens, its very much like LOST, there's a missing chapter where we'll show you things like [the disappearance of Spider-Man's organic web shooters]."
- Joe Quesada added that the time difference between Spider-Man kissing Mary Jane in One More Day and his waking up in Brand New Day was "about a year, year and a half."
- Magneto: Testament, a new Marvel Knights origin story in the vein of the recent revamped Colossus and Angel origin books, will debut in September. The series will be helmed by writer Greg Pak and artist Carmine Di Giandomenico.
- Finally, Marvel released the teaser image that accompanies this post. Any gueses as to what that is? My guess is that it is something X-Men related (due to their being an "X" on those shades...maybe Cyclops?
