It Figures!

Ah, Wednesdays. New Comic Book Day. That little day in the middle of the week that helps us get through the rest of it. Wednesdays also have new toys, and everyone loves toys.

Except some, but I'm not talking to those people right now. They don't like toys.

Go behind the jump for this week's releases and some upcoming ones.

This week's toys are from DC Showcase line, featuring Batgirl, Jonah Hex (which seems to be the favorite at the store I work at, we're almost out already), Hawkman, and yet another Superman. Why they feel the need to put out so many is beyond me. The ones they did put out have a hard enough time selling as it is.

Speaking of Big Blue, there's another one of him solicited for the New Gods Wave 2. Also in that wave are Big Barda ('bout time!), Kalibak, and Metron. Supergirl gets her 1:6 scale debut as well.

The Watchmen movie already gets a second wave, that includes Classic Night Owl, Classic Silk Spectre, Dr. Manhattan, and The Comedian. There's also a 1:6 scale version of the same character.

Over at Marvel, some new Mini Mates have been announced, wave 23 and 24. Wave 23 has Nova and Gamora, Cloak and Dagger, and Spymaster and War Machine. There's also a Jim Rhodes War Machine variant as well. Series 24 has Spidey stuff, Spidey and Shocker, Cosmic Spidey and transforming Venom, "Back in Black" Spidey and Kraven with a Tarantula variant.

Whew...that's it for now!

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
