LGBT Character Of The Week: Moondragon

moondragon.jpg

Everybody loves a bald chick. If they don't, they haven't met Heather Douglas, aka Moondragon.

Heather was born in Los Angeles, but due to events involving Thanos, ended up being raised on Saturn's moon Titan. (These same events lead to her father becoming Drax the Destroyer). There she developed prodigious psionic powers, primarily telepathy, which enables her to read minds and communicate mentally with others, control minds, fire bolts of psionic energy that can stun an opponent (or even render them brain dead), and induce mental illusions in other people. She is also an accomplished martial artist.

Moondragon has had a varied history, alternately being a hero and a villain, due to the influence of a malevolent cosmic entity known as The Dragon of the Moon. She has defeated and been defeated by it several times. Partly due to its influence, in the recent Annihilation: Conquest series she becomes physically a dragon, and is unable to change back to her human form. This was heartbreaking for her as she can no longer be with Phyla-Vell, her lover and current bearer of the title Quasar. She retained her mental powers however, and stayed with her partner as a fighting companion and mount. When the pair eventually were confronted by Ultron, he kills her after she attempts to protect Phyla.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"
