How A Gay Teenage Superhero Could Save (Or Destroy) The Marvel Universe

This article is part theory and part review, so bear with me. This week Young Avengers Presents #3 (of 6) was released, and this one focused on Wiccan and his sort-of brother Tommy (Speed).
This issue of Young Avengers Presents starts off with Billy (Wiccan) meeting Speed to go out searching for the Scarlet Witch, whom they believe to be their real mother, in a way. (I'll go into this in a moment). Hulkling takes the place of a grounded Billy, but not before a cute moment between the two. I'm glad the writers are exploring their relationship off the battlefield. (You should buy this book just for those moments, they are adorable)
Read more after the jump. (spoilers)
For those who haven't read much on Wiccan's origin, we need to talk about Wanda. For a brief time she was married to the Vision. During this time, desperate for children... she sort of wished them into being... out of pieces of Mephisto's soul. Those children were eventually taken back but destroyed Mephisto in the process. The current theory is that the souls of Wanda's children got re-incarnated into Billy and Tommy.
Confused yet?
In order to help with the grief, Wanda's magical tutor Agatha suppressed her memories of the children. Unfortunately, as the Marvel Universe has seen, this has made her a bit unstable, to say the least. With the amount of power she has access to, she's now re-written reality several times, tormented internally over the loss of children she can't remember. Now what's going to happen when they finally meet up with her?
Will she fix what she has changed? Will she find the happiness she has been seeking? Will she snap entirely? Billy (and Tommy) could very well be what keeps her sane in the next big crossover. That's my theory, anyway. After the Skrulls and Brand New Day and Initiatives and whatnot, the thing being foreshadowed here is the final resolution to those tragic events that stole Wanda's children. I'll bet dollars to donuts that it will all come to a head next year in a Maximoff family reunion.

Boy Meets Hero by Chayne Avery and Russell Garcia
The moment when Billy's parents welcome Teddy into the family ranks as one of my favorite comic book moments ever!
I like all the subtle little touches to their relationship in the YA books.
For instancve after their first confrontation with Super-Skrull Teddy's shirt got ripped and a few panels later you see that Billy gave him his sweater. Or in the YA/Runaways CW crossover when Niko changes their surroundings to an icy region and you see Teddy keeping Billy warm. It's these sweet displays of affection that aren't made too big a deal about (showing them in the same way any straight relationship in Marvel comics is) that I love most.
