We Watch The Watchmen, That's Who!

Ozymandias.jpg

Alan Moore and Dave Gibbon's seminal 1986 series Watchmen is headed to the silver screen and the first pictures of the cast have popped up. Not due until March of 2009, this is far from the last we'll be seeing of the film. I'm sure we'll get a teaser with The Dark Knight and a full blown trailer in November, but until then these photos will have to do.

March seems like an odd time to release such a big ticket film, but it seemed to work well for Snyder's last comic book adaptation, 300.

After taking an eyefull of Mathew Goode as Ozymandias hit the jump to check out the full cast in their regalia.

These are nice.

I'm starting to have high hopes for this movie. And hopefully it doesn't let me down.

(Does that count as an even higher hope?)

Okay I was worried when the film was announced. Would they match the look and feel of the material or toss it out and make another Catwoman like film?

I am now more optimistic - I have had the pleasure of working very briefly with Mr. Wilson on a small event in NYC and he is no where to be seen in that photo above. A great transformation!

Yep - it seems they are happily sticking with what worked about the book so far.

it looks cool, but will they keep the ending the same? No spoilers, but the ending doesn't seems like it is mainstream movie friendly.

This better be the "Before" shots.

I don't see either Silk Spectre or Night Owl being in their mid life crisis period. That was my draw for some reason. They are treading very close to "bat nipple".

It also worked for the previous adaptation of Alan Moore's work, V For Vendetta.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
