Warner Brothers Gets Bone-d! *giggle*

Two weeks ago, I purchased Jeff Smith's mammoth One Volume edition of Bone and read straight through the 1300+ monster. I was hesitant to pick it up at first, because I was deceived into thinking it was a children's comic book based on the artwork alone. But then Wondercon happened and I found this collection for a mere $30 and I really didn't have any excuse not to pick it up, especially with all of the great reviews it had gotten over the years.
Well the purchase certainly did not disappoint. What starts off as a simple, comedic journey matures into an epic, emotional story that reaches beyond any targeted demographic and genuinely makes you care about the characters.
Now news comes to us that Warner Brothers has just picked up the rights to produce the movie, and I'm not sure if that's a good idea. Moistly because I'm scared that it will be marketed towards children, causing changes to the main story. In the past, Nickelodeon had tried to produce an animated film targeted towards children, which irked Jeff Smith, especially when Nickelodeon had planned to have all the characters played by child actors and the soundtrack to include the likes of Britney Spears and N'Sync. Ultimately, the project collapsed (with good reason).
What do you guys think? Should the movie be made? If so, would it be better as a live-action film with CGI? Or should it be a strictly animated affair?
