The Invasion Begins Soon

SecretInvasion01_Cover.jpg

Marvel's upcoming event, Secret Invasion is gearing up. The first issue is on sale April 3nd and from there we've got a somewhat long ride (though nothing compared to the behemoth that was Civil War) as we figure out who is a Skrull and who isn't. Marvel has said that Iron Man is definitely not a greenskin as it would be a cop out for his current state of affairs (an opinion I agree with and support because his book is one of Marvel's best right now).

I'm optimistic about the story as I've always felt the Skrulls were underutilized as a villain in Marvel's hierarchy of mischief. If done right this could elevate the aliens to a major player in the Marvel Universe. If done wrong ... well, they can't be much more of a joke, right?

To the side here is the cover to Secret Invasion #1 soon to be in your hands. And let's hope that after this storyline they'll let it go with the altered images of previous covers. It worked for zombies but they ran it into the ground. Let's not go green chin happy here, folks.

Hit the jump to check out Marvel's official word and TWO variant editions by Steve McNiven and Leniel Yu.

It's the event years in the making and the story that everyone can't stop talking about--Secret Invasion is here! The shape-shifting Skrulls have infiltrated Earth, replacing those we most trust and count on for our protection--but just what is their endgame? From the superstar creative team of Eisner-winner Brian Bendis (New Avengers, Mighty Avengers) and acclaimed artist Leinil Francis Yu (New Avengers) comes the double-sized Secret Invasion #1 (of 8), beginning the blockbuster action-pack thrill ride that changes the Marvel Universe so dramatically that we can't show you any of the interior art! Yup, every page is filled with the shocking changes and revelations you've been waiting for! Wrapped up in a stunning cover by Gabrielle Dell'Otto, along with variants by Civil War artist Steve McNiven and Yu himself, this is the comic you can't afford to miss!

Marvel urges retailers to check their orders on Secret Invasion #1, kicking off the comic book event that has everyone buzzing and irrevocably changes the Marvel universe with each issue! Featuring all the major heroes and villains in the Marvel Universe, this is the story that'll leave your jaws on the floor!

Who is a Skrull? Who's been replaced? And most importantly...WHO DO YOU TRUST?

Plus, don't miss Secret Invasion Saga, in stores now, tracing the origins of the Skrull infiltration from the Elektra replacement to the Skrulls' very first visit to Earth. And did we mention it's free?

I'm sorry Marvel. I tried to get into it. I really did. I just...can't for some reason. I don't find this exciting or interesting at all. You tried though, which is nice...but I think DC is having the better Summer event.

Don't you mean the better decade event? I was unaware Identity Crisis had actually ended!

now now, to be fair, Marvel's House of M is still being played out as well in the pages of Cable. I'm just saying that DC has the more epic and interesting story than Marvel, which has never been the case for me.

house of m and civil war were pretty good IMO, but I'm more interested in seeing how they screw up stories more than really following the event.

I'm sorta burnt out on the yearly super duper crossover EX storylines.
