Factor In The Celebrations

According to, well, itself, Marvel.com is celebrating X-Factor week. The more cynical among us may think this is nothing more than a media push since the book doesn't have an obvious enough one post-Messiah Complex (like Cable or X-Force), but I think those that read the title will find it the just attention the title deserves. The book is one of Marvel's best and certainly a star in the X-Men line.
Written by Peter David with a few different artists assisting throughout the series' run, X-Factor tells the story of Jamie Madrox (MUltiple Man) and his assorted allies trying to survive the tribulations of Mutant Town. That's become exponentialy more interesting since M Day and the build-up to Messiah Complex. Now that we're into Divided We Stand things are going to get a bit edgy 'round X-Factor way.
Plus, Peter David is a deft hand and picking up stray plot lines and using them to his advantage. X-Factor was the only book to properly use M Day, the O*N*E and House of M without just shoehorning in a random one-off issue. If you want the best of noir, superhero and company crossover storytelling, give X-Factor a shot.
Hit the jump for all the goings on over at Marvel.com this week for the celebration.
An "x-factor" generally refers to an element one can't see coming; the unpredictable intangible that throws everything around it into a state of chaos; the "wild card" that means all bets are off.In the Marvel Universe, X-FACTOR means all those things as well as one heck of an entertaining ongoing series starring Jamie Madrox and the world's most dysfunctional team of mutant private investigators.
