Wondercon Wrap Up!

This past weekend, we had the pleasure of attending Wondercon in San Francisco’s Moscone Center. Wondercon is Comic-Con’s slightly smaller and not as popular brother, which is actually a good thing, as panels tend to be a more intimate affair. We expected more announcements to be made, but alas, most of those are saved for big brother Comic-Con. Nonetheless, we had an incredible time, as evidenced by Boy of Tomorrow and Fat Momma in the above picture.
Hit the jump for some of the weekend highlights:
Brian Wood and Becky Cloonan announced the return of Demo in a series of six issues titled: Demo Volume 2 starting this fall to be published by Vertigo.
The X-Files movie teaser left all of us confused…but nonetheless excited!
The Dark Horse panel hinted at a big announcement involving Buffy and Joss Whedon in July, as well as giving us June as the release date for the second Buffy trade collection.
Fat Momma from Who Wants to be a Superhero is really, really nice!
Some of the best trade collection deals are to be had at events such as Wondercon, as several vendors sold their wares at special deals such as 5 trades for $25 or 1/2 off their entire stock! That netted us the spectacular one volume edition of Bone for $20!
I met my hero Brian Wood who was nice enough to sign my copy of Northlanders #1. However, he seemed a bit distracted and looked a bit like he had better things to do so that took away from the experience. I even talked about his great work on Generation X...oh well.
Boy of Tomorrow was able to have Ben Templesmith sign his copy of the Hatter M trade, which involved a lot of cursing as Mr. Templesmith misspelled BoT's name.
The Prism Comics folks are a friendly, open bunch who hosted a full itinerary of LGBT comic events specifically for the weekend event.
And finally, in a week that involved getting into a car accident with The Boy Blunder whilst riding in a cab and being sent to the emergency room (for a separate, unrelated incident), I'm glad to finally be back home to rest :-) Suffice to say, I'm a little more appreciative of the things I have. Enjoy your week folks!

awww wish I could have made it out there this year!
