Spidey’s Coming Back To TV. Will He Be Spectacular?

spider-man.gif

Saturday March 8th marks the premiere of Spectacular Spider-Man the Animated Series on Kids WB. I saw a very early sneak peek trailer at Comic Con last year and have to say that, unlike the MTV series from a few years back, the show looks much closer to the comic. Early online reviews from the first episode viewing at WonderCon 08 seem to agree; with much of the kudos going to Sean Galloway for invigorating the project with a fresh look to the character designs while still maintaining the classic feel.

For those action figure collectors in our midst worry not Hasbro is on the case with plans to offer a variety of toys in 2008 including the first-ever Spider-Man toy that can actually scale walls. Imagine the fun…

I've been seeing ads during my Saturday afternoon TiVo review of The Batman and Legion of Superheroes, but I've never been a huge Spiderman fan.

But if it's getting good reviews, I'll set the TiVo and watch the first few episodes at least.

Also, you need an Avatar, Ms. Chele. May I suggest:

Wonderful suggestion - my fearless leader is working on trying to resolve the slight as we speak.

Tune into the Spidey - he's not my favorite comicbook icon either but from what I hear it will be worth a look.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Northstar's Boyfriend Coming In January! You guys may recall I was a bit cranky about Northstar and his lack of lovin' about a year and a half ago. In fact, at the time, I issued a challenge to Marvel to get him a kiss by June 2009 or I would declare him not really gay. I have not forgotten about this. However, when the X-men moved to San Francisco this year, we were teased with the existence of what looked to be Northstar's boyfriend (and manager), so I delayed judgment until we could see more. Since then, Northstar hasn't had a lot of major appearances, as there have been about a thousand major crossover events in the Marvel universe in the last six months, and each one tends to disrupt the normal storyline for most books, including the many X-books. So I waited. Our patience seems to have been rewarded! Artist Tim Fish revealed on his blog that his upcoming story in Nation X #2 (which comes out in Jan.) is a story about Northstar, and will feature Kyle, his boyfriend in an 8-page story. I'm not sure if an actual kiss is in it, but it's implied that there is some lovin' going on. Check out some sketches of Northstar, Kyle, and Aurora below, and we'll keep you up to date when we get closer to Jan. NATION X #2 1/6/10 [TimFishWorks]...
