Del Toro Interested In Dr. Strange

Can we be honest for a minute? Just between us geeks? Dr. Strange is not someone who is well-suited to carrying a leading role. He's good as an advisor, or a deus ex machina, or perhaps even a major character in a group. But as an actual leading man? Not so much. I say this because -at least in the comic universe- he's too powerful/knowledgeable to stay in danger for very long. I kind of enjoyed the animated movie which came out earlier this year, but I also felt a little guilty for doing so since it made the good doctor into an action hero who had little in common with his comic origins.
Naturally, I wouldn't expect much from a live-action adaptation of the comic, but then I read this snippet from an interview with Guillermo Del Toro (if you don't know who he is, then I'm banning you from this site), who it turns out is actually interested in making such a film:
"I talked with Neil Gaiman [about writing it]," he tells Empire. "I said, that's an interesting character because you can definitely make him more in the pulpy occult detective/magician mould and formula than was done in the Weird Tales, for example… the idea of a character that really dabbles in the occult in a way that's not X-Filey, where the supernatural is taken for granted. That's interesting… But I wouldn't use the suit!"
I... I'm not sure there are words to describe the excitement I'm feeling at just the possibility of a team-up between Gaiman and Del Toro for a movie like this. While I'm not Strange's biggest fan, I would totally go see it just for the names attached... you know, when it finally gets made in five or ten years.
