Guess Who's Coming To Fill In Some Tights?
In an effort to drum up curiosity about the new Captain America's identity, Marvel has released this promotional image, promising us that one of the following characters is going to step in to fill Steve Rogers' place.
My money is on Bucky/Winter Soldier, with the outside chance of the Red Skull taking on the role simply because Marvel loves their plot twists... though, honestly, I don't think that man could stand dealing with another persona in his head at the moment.
USAgent is one of those guys who nobody likes and/or cares about, so he's out. Hawkeye was offered the job by Tony Stark and turned it down, thus nixing his eligibility. Union Jack just seems like he was thrown into the mix because Marvel wanted to add a character who had almost nothing to do with the Cap, although he is a highly skilled knife and pistol fighter, so I can't rule him out entirely based on the promotional artwork. And, finally, there's Tony Stark; everyone in the comics community would probably riot if he got ahold of Cap's shield on a regular basis. Anyone willing to place any bets on who it's going to be? I'll buy you a drink at the next gathering if you're right!

I'd really be surprised if it isn't winter soldier.
I'm still on the fence on the new outfit too. Sometimes it looks cool, sometimes it looks odd. Especially when it isn't done by Ross.
I don't think it will be Bucky simply because they've been hitting us over the head that it might be him like it was a blunt object. Clint and Union Jack have both been absent from this story arc all together so I'd throw them out. Same with USagent. That leaves Stark or Red Skull. I agree that Red Skull would be the most twisty but I think that they won't go full on head spin for that. As for Tony, well, quite frankly, that would just be dumb. So, my bet... the resurrected corpse of Steve Rogers. The best part is he would count as being in the poster because the new Captain America is in the poster. Likewise, it could be Howard the Duck...
It's clearly going to be Winter Soldier. They've already said that Steve Rogers, for now at least, is Uncle Ben dead. Likewise, Hawkeye wants nothing to do with being cap and is quite possibly a skrull anyway. The only other person on the list arrogant enough to take the mantle is Stark. It'll either be Winter Soldier, Stark, or some Newbie McNoname.
If Hawkeye's a skrull, couldn't it be real-Hawkeye?
