Another Fine Tradition Honored...

watchmen-2.jpg

If there's one thing we've all learned in our lives, it's that imitation is the sincerest form of flattery. Well, that's what we keep telling ourselves when someone rips off our hottest work and tries to take credit for it. In the comic industry, imitation often takes some steroids and accelerates into full-blown plagiarism. Don't believe me? Just look at how many covers repeat themselves over at Super Dickery.

Apparently the show Heroes has been following this tradition in fine form, so much so that they've give UnderGroundOnline enough fodder to create a fairly lengthy feature about the number of "swipes" they've committed. Amongst the list of ripped off comics, we have Watchmen, Elfquest, and The Avengers, amongst others:

As the former generation of heroes starts turning up dead, the current generation can only follow the trail to try and find out who is killing them, racing against time before the next one falls. And one question is on everyone's lips: who watches the Watchmen?

Actually, we've got the answer right here, and it's Tim Kring. Sure, the plot of "Generations" was a blatant swipe, but it's not the first time and chances are it won't be the last. And it could be worse; after all, Heroes writer Jeph Loeb once worked on Onslaught. So be glad they're pillaging the classics, at least.

Amen to that. Thank god Loeb didn't actually manage to incorporate that godawful Heroes Reborn nonsense into the show. Just think about it: Season Two could've been worse.

Re: Adaptive Muscle Memory

I'm fairly certain, at one time or another, Catwoman was also said to have this "power." Though I don't feel like digging through my comics to find out for sure.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
