They Probably Seemed Like Good Ideas At The Time...

You know, there's probably a reason that most heroes ultimately end up sticking with their original costumes or some close variation thereof. Whenever a new look is unveiled, I tend to find myself shaking my head sadly and waiting for the publishers to come to their senses in order to restore their protagonists' original looks. Remember when DC thought it would be a good idea to give Superman that stupid Red/Blue look along with some random electricity-based powers? Yeah, me too; thankfully that makeover didn't last for too long.
Meanwhile, over in Marvel Comics Land, they've posted a feature revisiting some of the biggest costume revisions that have occurred over the years in their publishing history (they're claiming it's because Halloween is approaching, while I think they're just trying to prove that the new Captain America look could've been a lot worse). Some of the looks were cool, like Wolverine's brown-and-tan outfit that lasted for several years; others were pretty dumb, like Sue Storm's skanky costume in the 1990s; and some were just painfully funny, like the Scarlet Spider and his "hoodie of justice".
Still, the information is pretty interesting for those of us comic junkies who enjoy learning the history of our favorite characters. If that doesn't sound like your cup of tea (philistines), then move along; there's nothing to see here.
