Rough Trade Friday: Invincible

Look! In the sky! Its a bird! Its a plane! Its a cheap Superman knock-off! Kidding, of course! Invincible marked a radical departure for Image comics showing their lighter happier side. The story centers around 17-year-old Mark Grayson. He begins manifesting powers and starts operating as a superhero under the mentor-ship of his father, the superhero known as Omni-Man. Mark soon discovers that the source of his powers comes from his alien heritage. Of course as luck would have it, his father betrays him and the planet. He is not a member of a peaceful race, after all, but intent on preparing the planet for invasion. Fathers sucks sometimes.

The series was created and is still written by Robert Kirkman, with most of the art done by Cory Walker. A good fun series, it worth picking up the first few volumes for a quick read with your special someone.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1 I literally clapped my hands together and said OhMyGodYesssss when the friendly staff member at my regular shop held this book out to hand it to me. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung finally - finally - return to this title with a nine issue limited series. I will spare you paragraphs of pontification and cut to the chase: it's not just good, it's the best thing Marvel has going, period. Read on for the pontification and petty quibbles!...
