Ask-a-Fanboy

I was planning on waiting to upgrade my pc until this coming spring, at which point the Geforce 8800 would be cheaper, DX10 would be out, etc. However...to upgrade my pc like I would want, I would be spending anywhere between 1500 and 2000 dollars...that's a lot of cash, cash that is, unfortunately, not free. ;) Then the thought struck me: Could I not just buy an Xbox 360? Most of the games that I would want to buy would be available on the 360, and then I wouldn't feel so compelled to have such a killer pc, in the end potentially saving myself money. On the other hand, I must be honest with myself, and acknowledge that my mind probably just conjured this idea up because I'm jealous of those that can play Gears of War...what are your thoughts on this? Should I buy an Xbox 360, or should I just wait and spend $2000 on a new pc?

As much as it pains me to say this, gone are the days when the PC was clearly the better gaming platform than consoles. As we have seen with Bioshock using the Unreal 3 engine, consoles have every bit the horsepower needed to run phenomenal looking games. So if you are certain that most of the games you are interested in are going to be available for the 360, then go that route. It is cheaper, and 95% of the AAA titles will be 360 based.

Why is it that gay boys are so damned fabulous, while straight boys smell so bad?

Pheromones. But nothing beats lurking in the locker room at the gym watching the straight athletes coming out of the showers. Oh that sounded kinda creepy...nevermind.

What exactly is your limit in regards to alcohol?

The last time I got royally Effed up, I was in West Hollywood and lost count after 15 shots of tequila (1800 Anejo for those that must know). I know I had considerably more than that, that's just where i lost count. I'm a frisky drunk, but Fruit Brute and Boy of Tomorrow said what else is new and its really hard to tell the difference between sober and drunk Boy Blunder.

My boyfriend and I have an open relationship, which works out well most of the time as we both travel a lot, but we had a party last weekend and he took one of the guests to bed in our own bed and I was sexiled to the couch. He didn't even offer a threesome! Do I confront him?

Yes, of course! If you are feeling uncomfortable about any aspect of your relationship you owe it to yourself and your boyfriend to bring it up. Just don't be mean, talk only about how it made you feel and why. Remember, technically if you have an open relationship, he did nothing wrong per se, but I suspect that particular situation never crossed your mind. The only cure to jealousy is communication, after all.

What was the point of 52?

To give people like me something to bitch about for the next three years.

I picked up the latest issue of Buffy Season 8 yesterday. It kicks off the Faith storyarc and, in my opinion, does it with a bang! I was relieved to see that the writers were able to capture Faith's... unique... way of talking. Her line about 'Sunny D' was classic. As a comics connoisseur, I wanted to know your opinion on Season 8 so far and what you think of the newest arc with Faith. Is there anything you'd like to see done differently in the series? Are there any directions you'll hope it takes or characters you want included? I was reading the letters section at the end and apparently fans of the Willow & Tara relationship are 'in for some more tears', whatever that means. New info about them via a flashback? Ghostly appearances from beyond the grave? I can't wait for October 3!

God, where to start...Season 8 is both extremely satisfying and extraordinarily frustrating to me. CLerly, I'm happy Buffy is back and picks up where the series ended. Also the medium allows for more "effects" than television would have, and should allow for expanded storytelling. All that being said, its still a comic book and what took five months to tell in this form, would have been ten to fifteen minutes on screen.

I'm reserving judgment on Faith. Her type of character can go horribly wrong very quickly is not handled gingerly.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"
