LGBT Character of the Week: Catwoman

225px-CatwomanCv53.jpg

One of the more interesting occurances to come out of DC's One Year later was the retirement of Selina Kyle as Catwoman. She has been replaced by an on-and-off again prostitute come sidekick, Holly Robinson, first introduced by Frank Miller in Batman: Year One. Robinson is now in a steady lesbian relationship with her lover, Karon. Finally an end to Batman/Catwoman tragic affairs of yore.

Perhaps ,with all the characters in the DC universe coming out left and right, Batman can finally cop to his secret, yet forbidden, love for Jim Gordon and Dick Grayson. Well a Boy Blunder can dream can't he?

At the end of the day though, don't we all really wish it was Julie Newmar or Eartha Kitt? That would be purrrr-fect...

Yeah Selina's "retirement." Which has amounted to her putting on the catsuit in pretty much every issue since to go do something to rescue Holly or otherwise save people and/or the East End.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Avengers: The Children's Crusade #1 I literally clapped my hands together and said OhMyGodYesssss when the friendly staff member at my regular shop held this book out to hand it to me. Allan Heinberg and Jim Cheung finally - finally - return to this title with a nine issue limited series. I will spare you paragraphs of pontification and cut to the chase: it's not just good, it's the best thing Marvel has going, period. Read on for the pontification and petty quibbles!...
