LGBT Character of the Week

390px-Reneequestion.png

If one of your greatest fears growing up was being outed by a horribly disfigured super-villan with a crazy sense of justice, then your name must be Renee Montoya. Former Gotham City police officer and then detective, as of 52 Montoya is the new Question. Her ex-girlfriend is none other than Kate Kane, the new Batwoman. Ex, because Montoya went a little overboard with the drink after her gig with the GCPD ended. Oh well, at least she wasn't an alcoholic (she never went to meetings, she was just a drunk).

One very interesting thing about the character is her origin. Like Harley Quinn, she originated in Batman: the Animated Series and was quickly absorbed into the comics canon.

Geez, what is it about Gotham City and lesbians and ambiguously gay duos?

Now all they need is a couple of honest-to-god butt-pirates and they will have a full set.

"Oh Lois, you SO don't want to know!"

Comic of the Week

Review: Stormwatch #1 Stormwatch #1, the first of DC's new 52 to feature LGBT characters (before the reboot, at least) is out to add a new cosmic dimension to the post-Flashpoint universe. There isn't much to be said for our beloved broship yet (though the last page shows a handshake between Apollo and Midnighter and promises a "Big Bang"), but the issue is a great gauge for whether or not you'll want to stick with the series to see the romance purportedly unfold....
